I have really been enjoying the learning with Plurk! And, experiencing for myself the power of Plurk! Plurk! is great for digital storytelling and converstion, PLN, students, etc. I am really excited about using Plurk! in English as a foreign language classes to stimulate creative writing, sequencing, storytelling, etc. In fact, I have set up a Plurknovelas site for digital storytelling. I like to think that in the area of education, as opposed to other areas, that there is often more generosity of spirit and willingness to share. Obviously it is also about getting the music out there. But I like to think that when people know that there are students involved they tend to be more willing to care, to teach and to share. regards Anne

I understand – and share – your frustrations/nagging senses (heck, even the fact that it’s taken me 12 days since you posted this for me to comment is a sign of the deluge!). Sometimes, being an avid learner and reader can be quite exhausting, yes? Sometimes we just have to give ourselves permission to “Mark All As Read”, and move on.

Thanks for the review! I wish I could track down all the participants. I think I will make a blog post about what I could have done to enhance the experience. I originally considered including hidden audio links for the backchannel, but ran out of time. Google Presentations was not easy! It took forever to reformat and move text around because it just wouldn’t stick!

For what it’s worth, as a non-classroom-teacher and non-student in this case, I think the value of these orientations is immeasurable. Take a look at those positives you identified… making connections w/students; making connections w/teachers; expanding awareness of the media center, media specialist, and resources; modeling useful technologies; helping to honor the value of literacy and continued learning by virtue of the orientations and what they imply.

The foundation this helps to lay for ongoing collaboration, conversation, and learning is absolutely enormous. No amount of deadpan stares can detract from that.
